Peek-A-Week #4 AND change of plans!!!

Hi All! Cate and I have some super duper important news to share with you, (and we'd love it if you passed this along)! Rather than haul all of our gorgeous, impeccable, one of a kind pieces across town to the flea market, we are going to stay right here on June 7 and open our door to you!!!

That's right; the Fairfax Lake Park Flea Market is OUT, and Chelsea's Garage's garage is IN! Simply stated, we'll have lots more to offer if we just stay right here where we are with no room constraints in our vehicles and designated 10x10 ft space.

This will happen to be Chelsea's Garage's FIFTH sale and I could not be more excited! Here's a peek at the first four:

I'm the most excited I've ever been for this one in particular. Why? One word. Cate. This will be the first Chelsea's Garage sale where Cate will be selling her own stunning pieces as well, so it'll be an extra special, extra fun time. And as always, refreshments will be served to any and all guests who come out to take a looksie.

Event Details:
--Saturday, June 7
--Door opens at precisely 9am and closes when we're out of pieces, (or 3pm. Whichever happens first)
--Contact me at chelseasgarage@gmail.com so I can send you the address
--At sale #4 there were cars parked in front of our house an hour and a half early. This is a smart choice.

Pieces go fast in the first hour, so try to get there by 9am if possible. If you don't believe me, I snapped this picture as our door was opening at the last sale.

:)

In keeping with the Peek-A-Week series where I was showing you one piece a week which would be at the flea market, I'll just continue on with a peek of something you'll find in Chelsea's Garage's garage, (that's more fun to say than you're probably thinking). This week I've got these two campaign style buddies showing off their versatility:

Side-by-side they'd make a great little media unit, dresser, or sofa table

Stacked they're perfect for a taller dresser, office, or living room space to create differing height.

Or let them anchor a living room by flanking a sofa or pair of armchairs.

So don't forget, the party is HERE on June 7! Trust me, we have a good time.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Back to what I love

What a week it's been, guys! After the sale last week I've been drowning in a sea of inquiries about the pieces remaining. I have every available piece posted on Craigslist, Etsy, and here on the blog. After trying my best to answer around 70 emails between Monday and Tuesday, I decided to close my computer on Wednesday and treat myself to some paint therapy.

Sweet French country accent table - so much storage!

Everything changed. All my anxiety about responding to the magnitude of emails. My frustration about what didn't sell. My discouragement. It all got swept away, brush stroke, by brush stroke. That's love, guys.:)

SOLD

My first and foremost day, (and night), job is being the best Momma I can possibly be to our three little ones. And that doesn't leave a whole lot of extra time! (And I still fall short of what my kids deserve every day - so grateful for Jesus' generous grace and my children's forgiving hearts). So, when I do have open time, (when the kids are napping), I prefer to use that part of my day to paint rather than work on business related matters. But, the truth is - that isn't reality. My beloved pieces won't sell themselves, at least not literally. This line of work needs to be a balance of business and creativity. And since I am the only person running this business, I have to work just as hard at selling my pieces as creating them. Selling is hard. It's time consuming. It can be discouraging. But, as a wise gal who also does this line of work recently reminded me, you gotta have faith. I'm currently harboring 9 amazing pieces in our garage until the right people come along to claim them, one by one. I have faith that this will happen. Maybe not this week, maybe not next week, but I have faith that they will sell. They always do at some point in time. I will continue advertising my pieces, responding to inquiries and setting appointments, but there will be no more worrying about it. It's too heavy a load for me to bear and I don't need that. Who does?! In the mean time, I've got some projects lined up for our own home that excite me beyond measure. What's new? :)

"Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not yet seen" Hebrews 11:1

I try to be pretty open and honest about my business, (for better or worse), and myself. So far I've received nothing but support and encouragement and for that I am so grateful.

And thanks to you for reading!

Spring sale recap

We had the most perfect weather on Saturday - and I woke up so grateful to be doing what I do. Grateful for the patience of my family who allows me the time to do this and do it right. Grateful for the support and encouragement of family near and far, good friends, and complete strangers who have stumbled across my business and given the kindest compliments. Grateful for not just the emotional encouragement from my husband but the use of his handy skills. And let me tell ya, he's got mad skills. And so grateful that my loving Father has blessed this business beyond measure and allowed it to prosper over my family.

It's all too much, sometimes. I feel so incredibly blessed.

So Saturday! I opened our garage door on a beautiful Spring day to show and sell the pieces I've been working on over the last few months. It took a while to accumulate the stock I had as working through the winter tends to be slower. Aside from the fact that I lose feeling in my hands after about an hour and a half in a freezing garage, the paint doesn't agree much with the cold weather either and gets goopy. But, I finally had enough pieces for our little garage to handle and set a sale date!

Here are some photos of the day!

I always offer refreshments. I want people to feel right at home when they step inside.:)

I didn't have my lights on during the before sale pics, so I got a quick photo in between customers. The big white lantern was an Ikea accessory that I found at Goodwill! It lit everything up perfectly!

A nod to Derby day

It was a wonderful day. I said goodbye to a few pieces, hello to some good friends, and met a lot of new ones! There are custom orders lined up and appointments scheduled to view the remaining stock of pieces. If  you are local and didn't make the sale please contact me and I can send photos of the remaining pieces. Or check back in soon because I am working on filling my Etsy shop with the remaining pieces and will post the link here on the blog once that's ready.

Thanks for reading!
